Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.
These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.
The attack - which authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
